Latvian luge duo Bots/Plūme earns bronze in the World Cup race / Article

Germany’s Toni Eggerts/Saša Benneken won the men’s race with a total time of one minute and 24.158 seconds. Their compatriots Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlts were 0.066 seconds behind in second, while Bott/Plumi were 0.218 seconds behind the winners.

The other Latvian men’s crew Eduards Ševics-Mikeļševics/Lūkass Krasts took 8th place.

In the first race, Bots/Plūme were third, while Šević-Mikelšević/Krast finished fourth.

Later on Saturday, Italy’s Andrea Fetter/Marion Oberhofer won the women’s doubles with a time of one minute and 25.650 seconds. German crew Jesika Degenhart/Cheyenne Rosenthal were 0.051 seconds behind to reach second place, while Austrian duo Zelina Egle/Lara Michael Kip completed the trio of winners 0.277 seconds behind the winners. Upīti/Ozoliņu was separated from the first place winners by 0.566 seconds.

The second Latvian women’s crew, Viktorija Ziediņa/Selīna Elizabete Zvilna, ranked 9th.

In the first race, Upīte/Ozoliņa and Ziediņa/Zvilna took 5th and 6th place, respectively.

In the women’s solo competition, Elīna Ieva Vītola, who won 5th place, was the highest among Latvians.

Kendija Aparjode and Sigita Bērziņa reached 10th and 11th place, respectively. The German Julia Taubitz won, leaving behind her compatriots Anna Bereiter and Dayana Eitberger in the top three.

In the first race, Vitola was fourth, Aparjode was ninth, and Sigita Bērziņa ranked right behind the TOP10. Another athlete from Latvia, Franceska Bona, did not pass the qualification on Friday.

At the end of the stage, men will start on Sunday, as well as a team relay.
