Kevin Durant (Phoenix), about the Nets: “We had lost our identity”

Kevin Durant : “When there was James (Harden)Kyrie (Irving) and me (in Brooklyn), it was extraordinary basketball for 17 matches. However, to win a Championship and be a great team, you need more time on the pitch. It’s another story why we didn’t go on the court together, but we just didn’t have enough time on the court.

I didn’t know what was going on with Kyrie and his situation with the organization, so I didn’t really focus on that. I just focused on what we were doing on the pitch. His trade request was a blow for our team, we lost our identity. He was a huge part of what we do. His game is a Hall of Fame player, a great, great player who can do anything on the court, and we relied on that. So without him, we had no clear identity.

It was hard for me to digest. I loved playing with these guys throughout the year. I felt like we had guys who were asserting themselves and doing things that they weren’t doing in their previous teams. So I enjoyed everything that happened. It was hard not to finish the season, but I tried to move forward as quickly as possible and find a solution for myself, while focusing on my rehabilitation and my return. It all happened so fast, but I’m glad it happened that way. »
