Karim Adarvez finished his tour and will continue in Europe

Last December, the athlete from the High Performance staff Karim Adarvez had his debut in the most important international judo tournaments, these are the two largest tournaments of the World Judo Tour which is divided into the Grand Prix Tournaments which took place on January 30 and 31, while the second was the Grand Slam Tournament that was held on February 4 and 5 where he was a part.

Karim, who competes in the category up to 66 kilos, was in Group D at the Grand Prix Tournament in the city of Almada. The judoka from San Juan debuted on the World Tour with a victory against the Filipino Shugen Nakano, whom he defeated by 1 Waza- ari.

In the second round, he fell 2-0 in Waza-ari against the Korean Jaehong An, recent Grand Slam medalist in Paris.

The competition for Karim did not stop there, he trained to travel to Paris for the Grand Slam, the most important tournament on the World Judo Tour.

His presentation was against the German Martin Sezt, where he had a good fight but unfortunately he fell by 2 Waza-ari, thus leaving him with no chance of a second round.

“During the summer break I kept training only with weights and physical preparation, then I did a training camp of almost a week at CeNARD, and then I went on the tour,” said Adarvez, who also highlighted the importance of the tour, since it will give him the points for the qualification of the Olympic Games of Paris 2024.

“With practically 1 year and 5 months remaining for the classification to close, it is now where we must try to add. Although this started with a personal project where personal savings and some sponsors were, now I have the support of the Secretary of State for Sports”, added the judoka.

With regard to future competitions, it does not yet have confirmed dates but it will continue in Europe. The idea is to stay as long as possible given its proximity to the venues of the World Tour tournaments, in Europe and Asia.

To close, Karim pointed out that he has very good expectations for the future: “We have nothing to envy from the Europeans, I think we have a great level of judo and the necessary tools to face any rival; in fact, it was clear that in the first tournament of the World Tour I was able to beat my rival from the Philippines who has practically more than double the number of tournaments than me”.

“That speaks of the work we do in Argentina, of what can be achieved. It’s just a matter of processes, time and experiences in these types of tournaments. The filming is what is going to give me security, what is giving me at this moment and I believe that as the competitions go by I will get a medal in these important tournaments that will give me the classification to the Olympic Games”, closed.
