The Technical Director of the Tunisian Judo Federation, Béchir Khiari, announced on Wednesday that more than 34 African countries will take part in the Tunis International Open (all categories) scheduled for March 9 to 12, at the sports hall of Rades.

The number may be increased in the coming days before the deadline for entries, set for March 1, he added, in a statement to TAP.

He said the tournament will kick off on March 9 with competitions in the cadet and cadet categories, while the juniors will compete on March 10 and the seniors on March 11 and 12.

“Tunisia will be involved in all female and male age categories, distributed as follows: 58 judokas will represent the cadet and cadet categories, 52 in the juniors and 65 in the seniors”, detailed the DTN.

He added that the tournament will represent for certain elements a qualification phase for the Paris-2024 Olympic Games, in particular Nihel Landolsi (70 kg), Oumaima Bdioui (48 kg), Fraj Dhouibi (60 kg), Koussai Ben Ghars (100 kg ) and Wahib Hadiouch (+100 kg) and whose chances of qualification remain real.

“Our objective is to intensify the international participation of our elite athletes in order to improve their world rankings and consolidate their chances of qualifying for the 2024 Olympics by appearing among the 16 best judokas in the world”, he said. explain.

Recall that gold medalists in the senior categories will earn 100 points in the world rankings while silver medalists will be awarded 70 points and bronze medalists 50 points.
