Basketball icon Michael Jordan will make a record-breaking $10 million donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Friday to mark his 60th birthday.
This emerges from a press release on Wednesday. The non-profit organization aims to fulfill the wishes of children between the ages of 2 and 18 who are suffering from a serious illness.
The donation is the largest in the Arizona-based foundation’s 43-year history.
“I can’t think of a better birthday present than to see others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic when their wish comes true,” Jordan said.
The six-time NBA champion first worked with the organization in 1989. He hopes his gesture would inspire others to donate to the foundation.
