JC 66 Bottrop: Twelve pirates qualify for the DM

At the West German Championships in Lünen, the JC 66 Bottrop won five titles, many good placements and victory in the club classification.

At the West German Championships for U18s and U21s in Lünen, twelve judoka from JC 66 Bottrop qualified for the German Championships.

In the U18 age group, six fighters from JC 66 Bottrop started. For the boys, Justus Hirschfelder (-46kg) took first place with three outstanding wins and one defeat.

Franziska Galla dominates her weight class

In the weight class up to 55kg, Bjarne Tapper fought his way up to seventh place with two wins and two unfortunate defeats. Marlon Fischer fought for the title in the weight class up to 66 kg. He won the first three fights and was only beaten in the semifinals by the later West German champions. In the fight for bronze and qualifying for the DM, he was defeated again.






Maike Bayerlein (-57kg), Felicia Schuhmacher (-63kg) and Franziska Galla (-70kg) started for the girls. Bayerlein had to admit defeat in the opening battle, but she fought her way through the consolation round to the battle for third place. There she lost to the favorite Adele Akopjan.


Felicia Schumacher also lost her opening match and then had the chance to win bronze. But she too had to admit defeat against Zoe Stockhausen from Düsseldorf. The weight class up to 70kg is dominated in NRW by Franziska Galla. She prevailed in the U18 with three wins and became West German Champion.

However, she was also able to shine in the U21 age group. There she also won three fights and was crowned with the championship title. Jana Iwanek narrowly failed, she fought her way through to the final with two victories, but then had to admit defeat to Zoe Stockhausen. Nehle Wakup was unstoppable that day and confidently won the gold medal.

JC 66 Bottrop wins the club classification

In the U21 juniors, Nicolas Kutscher (-60kg), Bastian Sauerwald (-81kg), Remus Buddenkotte, Elias Athmann (both -90kg) and Justus Galla (+100) started. Kutscher won at the start, but after a defeat he was able to secure bronze with two more wins.

Third were also Bastian Sauerwald and Remus Buddenkotte. Sauerwald lost at the start, but then won five fights in a row. Remus Buddenkotte won a total of three fights and, despite a strong performance, had to admit defeat to two very good competitors. Elias Athmann started in the same weight class. He finished seventh with two wins and two losses. Justus Galla fought very elegantly and won the title with two wins.

The JC 66 won the general classification of the tournament thanks to the strong results. The club will be represented at the German Championships by Justus Hirschfelder and Franziska Galla for the U18s and by Nicolas Kutscher, Bastian Sauerwald, Remus Buddenkotte, Justus Galla, Helen Habib, Nehle Wakup, Lilly Büsssemeyer, Jana Iwanek, Franziska Galla and Ronja Buddenkotte for the U21s represent.
