‘It’s the NHL, not a beer league!’: Blues coach Craig Berube unhappy with player performance

The St. Louis Blues are in serious danger of missing the next playoffs and a loss at the hands of the weak Vancouver Canucks on Thursday did not help their cause, which infuriated their head coach Craig Berube.

The latter expressed his great disappointment following the 3-2 defeat in extra time conceded at home.

The gap is widening in the standings, the disappointing Blues trailing by 11 points on a place giving access to the playoffs. And the effort to try to go up the slope is insufficient, according to the former strongman of the National Hockey League (NHL).

“Many of our best players are not doing their job. I don’t know why, but you should ask them. I imagine they don’t care about the team, ”he replied curtly in a post-match press briefing.

Berube elaborated by pointing out that attackers like Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas have not worked hard enough and that they would do well to follow the example set by younger players. The two leaders in total points for the Blues ended the evening with a combined differential of -3.

“Our best move with no passion, emotion and inspiration at all. They don’t play inspired hockey. In this league, you cannot perform without emotion, determination. They earn a lot of money and they don’t carry out their tasks,” lamented the instructor.

play with heart

Identified as one of the rare hockey players who did well on Thursday, Alexey Toropchenko also believes that the whole team can do much better, even if management has obviously chosen to think about the next campaign by recently exchanging Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O ‘Reilly.

“Even if we’re not in a position to make the playoffs, I’m going to leave everything on the ice because it’s a hockey game. It’s the NHL, not a beer league. You have to show meaningful stuff, character, and be solid everywhere playing with heart,” he said.

The Missouri club will face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
