It’s always been crazy here! Davidová is looking forward to the boiler and an inseparable partner

How did you manage to gather strength after the almost two-week world championship?

After returning from Oberhof, I had a bit of a cold, but then I joined the training so as not to fall out of it.

How long did a cold keep you out of training?

It didn’t completely shut down. I just knew I had to slow down a bit and rest.

Jislova will try
The composition of the Czech biathletes for the home WC in Nové Město na Moravě remains the same as at the World Championships, with the exception of Eliška Václavíková, who traveled to Canada for the IBU Cup. There is a possibility that Jessica Jislová, who had to miss the WC due to rib problems, would return to the season. Today’s training will decide. “She was already on track in Jablonec, if she feels good and wants to start, the possibility of starting is definitely there. The competitor must know how he feels, we certainly shouldn’t make excessive demands,” says the association’s sports director Ondřej Rybář.

Was it time to visit your favorite horses?

I was with them, I rested a bit, saw my family and then trained, nothing else could be done.

Is the home World Cup special for you?

Partly special is when you drive in the Czech Republic, I’m looking forward to it. Although it is a layman like any other, but there will be a lot of familiar faces and it will be packed, that’s what makes it different.

Is there a big difference between racing with and without spectators? The last two World Cups were played here in front of empty stands due to covid…

It depends on how close the audience is. They tend to be pretty close here, and as far as I remember those races in front of spectators, it was always crazy here.

You achieved your best result here in 2020, when fans were not allowed in the stands… You finished third in the sprint.

I don’t remember the race in full detail, I think it was raining then. And it was actually the first races without spectators, none of us knew what was waiting for us in the following years.

What is your current mood? Although you didn’t win a medal at the World Championships, you especially took away good feelings from the last race with a mass start…

But in biathlon, every race is different, so how I raced last time doesn’t say anything at all about how I will race now. I never set any specific numerical goals anyway.

On Saturday, there is going to be great glory here, when the members of the women’s relay will finally receive their medals from Sochi. I assume that you are mainly looking forward to meeting your friend Eva Puskarčíková…

Of course! Evka has already planned everything, when we will see each other, how we will see each other. (smile) I’m really looking forward to it and to the handover, hopefully I can combine it in time so that I can see him.
