Iquique court sentences a judo teacher to 10 years and one day in prison for raping a minor student

The Oral Criminal Trial Court of Iquique sentenced YIPM to 10 years and one day in prison, as the perpetrator of the consummated and repeated crime of rape of a minor under 14 years of age. Illegal crimes perpetrated between 2019 and 2020, in the commune of Alto Hospicio.

In a unanimous ruling, the court – made up of judges Rodrigo Villar Bustamante (president), Víctor Sanhueza Bravo and Juan Daniel Pozo Araya (editor) – also applied to YIPM the legal accessories of perpetual absolute disqualification from public positions and offices and rights politicians and the absolute disqualification for titular professions while the sentence lasts.

Likewise, the court imposed on the convicted person the special accessories of interdiction of the right to exercise guardianship and be heard as relatives in the cases designated by law; subjection to the surveillance of the authority during the 10 years following the completion of the main sentence; the absolute perpetual disqualification for positions, jobs, trades or professions exercised in educational fields or that involve a direct and habitual relationship with minors.

Once the ruling is executed, the court ordered that biological samples of the sentenced person be taken to determine his genetic fingerprint and inclusion in the national DNA registry of convicts.
