Michael Owen, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2001 and former scorer for English Liverpool, spoke about Darwin Núñez in BTwhere he is a match commentator, and assured that the Uruguayan “has the characteristics to be a superior player.”
“I didn’t think he would be so fast and important when he came to Liverpool. I thought that paying that money for him, it was good, when I saw him here in the Champions League last year, he was absolutely brilliant and he does things that take your breath away.”
He commented that “he’s going to have to train to be a top player.” “The player I would probably compare him to, not in the same style, but when Didier Drogba came to these shores, people made fun of him for the first year or so. He made a lot of mistakes, but he got used to it,” he added.
