How to defend yourself and feel safer? The first free self-defense course arrives at the Judo Club in Castenaso. Since Monday, the martial arts gym with continuous activity in the area since 1972 has been organizing a series of five free personal safety meetings open to all, but above all designed for women, too often the target of aggression in the most disparate situations. Lessons will end, not by chance, the week in which Women’s Day falls. Judo is a particularly appropriate martial art for self-defense, also because it doesn’t require great physical strength, but the knowledge of specific techniques.

To talk about the commendable initiative, the municipal councilor for Sport Pier Francesco Prata who supported the organization of the lessons: “The Judo Club Castenaso continues and strengthens its activity in the area; the company, despite the pandemic, has doubled in the last three years its members, adding to the daily courses for young people many activities open to citizens of all ages.Another very important course will begin on Monday: five free personal safety meetings, open to all, but designed in particular for women, too often target of unacceptable violence and aggression. At the end of 2022, the Fijlkam Olympic Federation, to which the Judo Club is affiliated, invited martial arts societies to promote initiatives in this direction, an area that has garnered a lot of interest from citizens and received our convinced support, mine and that of the councilor for security Elisabetta Scalambra”.

“The Judo Club represents a special wealth of our territory – adds Prata – and there must be support from the local authorities for these special initiatives by facilitating the activity in suitable spaces. In this regard, work has recently begun for an expansion of the sports facility where judo activities take place, which in 2024 will allow the company to move to a new space twice as large as the current one”.
