Erling Haaland has reached the next historic milestone with his next goal for Manchester City: 26 goals in the Premier League this season. Sergio Agüero had previously done that with the Skyblues, but not nearly as quickly. The former BVB professional got into raptures himself after the 3-1 away win at Arsenal on Wednesday evening.

“Sometimes we have to play a bit more than we did today,” said the 22-year-old after he had replaced the Gunners at the top of the table with the reigning champions, also thanks to his goal. The opponent from London has played one game less. Haaland cheered one way or another: “I’m so proud of every single one here and so happy to be here.”
Kevin De Bruyne (24th minute), Jack Grealish (72nd) and Haaland (82nd) scored in the capital. Bukayo Saka (42nd penalty kick) scored the goal for the hosts. It was Haaland’s 26th goal in the championship after just 22 appearances. Storm predecessor Agüero needed eleven games more, 33 appearances, for this value in 2014/15, when the Argentine set the previous goal record for a Man City player in a Premier League season.
After 23 games this season, Haaland now has a maximum of 15 opportunities to increase its yield and squint towards the league record. He’s only seven hits away. Andy Cole (Newcastle, 1993/94) and Alan Shearer (Blackburn, 1994/95) have scored 34 goals this season since the first Premier League season in 1992/93.
