The Xàtiva Badminton Club adds a new gold to its medal table particular. The club athlete Andrea Orquín was proclaimed champion of the Top TTR Sub-13, Sub-17 and Absolute tournament held last saturday in San Pedro del Pinatar (Murcia). Andrea hung the gold in the women’s doubles, in which she competed with Claudia Gallego, winning the title after beating Candela Martínez and Sara Naai Morales, from CB Las Torres, in the final by a double 21-16. Andrea and Claudia had already qualified as the first in group B, after beating the other two couples. In the individual category, Andrea won two of the three matches played in the group phase, which was not enough to achieve first place that gave access to the final phase.
Besides, Badminton Xàtiva has been placed leader of the National League of Clubs 2nd Division Valencian Communityafter beating the two rival teams in the first day of the league, played last Sunday in Teulada. The Setabense club was formed by Andrea Orquín, Nuria Martínez, David Polop, Vicent Molina and Ximo Torres, accompanied by coach Javier Alcázar, and were imposed on CB Aspe and CB Infante. In the first match, against Aspe, those from Xàtiva won by a resounding 0-5, winning all the games in a match in which the Setabenses did not have too many problems to prevail over the Alicante club. The toughest and most competitive duel was the men’s doubles, which fell to the Setabense side 16-21 and 17-21. In the second match, CB Xàtiva-Caixa Popular beat CB Infante de Murcia 2-3, after coming back from 2-0 down. Vicent and Andrea lost in the mixed doubles against Javier Martínez and Isabel Díaz, by 21-18 and 21-14. The Xàtiva club also lost the women’s doubles, in which Nuria and Andrea were beaten by Claudia Gallego to Isabel Díaz by a double 21-14. The comeback began to take shape with the men’s doubles, after the victory of David and Ximo, who made their debut in the Club League competition, who beat Javier and Rubén Martínez 21-19, 19-21 and 17-21. In singles, Ximo and Nuria defeated their rivals, consummating the comeback. With this double victory, CB Xàtiva-Caixa Popular leads the classification of the National League of Clubs.
The Setabense club was also present last weekend at the third day of the Sports Games in the children’s category, which he attended with 12 child athletes and fry. The Setabenses got a 29% win rate in doubles and 45% in singles. He highlighted the good performance of the under-13 athletes who participated in a category higher than his and achieved good results.

Next weekend, CB Xàtiva will play the Top TTR sub-11, sub-15 and sub-15 tournament hosted by the capital of La Costera and that will be held in the Francisco Ballester municipal pavilion. The event will bring together 71 athletes from the Valencian Community, including 13 from the Xàtiva club. The competition will begin at 9 am and CB Xàtiva has encouraged the public to attend and enjoy the badminton day.
