In singles, it’s the return of the POPOV/POPOV final. Like last year at Boulazac, the two brothers meet to go for the title. The eldest Toma Junior POPOV (Badminton Club Fos) was the first to qualify. Facing Thomas FOURCADE (US Talence), the bronze medalist at the 2022 European Championships held his rank by playing his 21/08 21/10 game in 36 minutes.
For Christo, double champion of France (2020 and 2022), it was longer! 1h10, the record of this edition! The fault of an Alex LANIER (ASPTT Strasbourg) who, although diminished by food poisoning, pushed the Fos-sur-Mer player to his limits 21/15 21/23 21/11. The two delivered a great match in front of a blissful audience!
In doubles, like last year, the POPOV brothers, Christo and Toma Junior (Badminton Club Fos), will play a second final. Still ahead of the score in their semi-final against Camblysiens Eloi ADAM and Fabien DELRUE (21/13 21/15), the Fosséens will put their title on the line tomorrow, so that one of them can achieve the double.
