A number of foreign media highlighted his election Erick Thohir as Chairman of PSSI new for the 2023/2027 period.
Erick Thohir officially became the new PSSI chairman after winning a landslide victory over La Nyalla Mattalitti, Arif Putra Wicaksono and Doni Setiabudi by collecting 64 votes.
Ercik’s closest competitor was La Nyalla with 22 votes, while Arif Putra and Doni Setiabudi did not receive any votes.
Erick Thohir’s victory in the 2023 PSSI KLB received scrutiny from foreign media. beIN Sports based in Qatar said Erick Thohir would discuss with FIFA representatives after being elected as Chair of PSSI.
“He won the majority of votes at the football association meeting and will hold a press conference with FIFA representatives in the coming days to discuss match-fixing in Indonesia,” wrote beIN Sports.
Meanwhile, Maltese media Sportsdeskinvolving the Kanjuruhan Tragedy in the election of Erick Thohir as the new chairman of PSSI.
“Former Inter Milan owner Erick Thohir was appointed chairman of the Indonesian football association on Thursday, the organization said, months after one of the worst stadium disasters in the history of the sport,” wrote Sportsdesk.
“The sports and media tycoon replaced chairman Mochamad Iriawan four months after 135 people were killed in a stadium storming in East Java, when police responded to the pitch invasion by firing tear gas into the stands packed with supporters of host Arema FC.”
