Football: Posch beheads Bologna to victory again

football

Stefan Posch remains the man of the hour at FC Bologna. The right-back headed his club to a 2-1 (1-1) away win at AC Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A on Sunday. It was the 25-year-old’s third league goal in three weeks. SSC Napoli, meanwhile, remain on course for their first league title since 1990.

Riccardo Orsolini gave Bologna the lead with a penalty in Tuscany in the absence of injured striker Marko Arnautovic (14′). However, the hosts equalized just five minutes later through Riccardo Saponara.

Immediately after the break, Posch became the match winner when he headed the Orsolini corner to make it 2-1 (47th). Fiorentina goalie Pietro Terracciano didn’t look good with the goal. In the table, Bologna is in ninth place with 29 points.

Napoli stays on course

Napoli is at the forefront by a clear margin. The southern Italians won 3-0 (0-0) at relegation candidates Spezia Calcio after initial difficulties. Napoli are 13 points ahead of Inter Milan in the table, who won the derby against AC Milan in the evening 1-0 (1-0) thanks to a goal by Argentine world champion Lautaro Martinez in the 34th minute. Milan slipped down to sixth place and, already 18 points behind Napoli, can probably write off the renewed title win.

Napoli continues to extend their lead

With a clear 3-0 win at Spezia Calcio, the league leaders stayed on course towards the championship title.

The Georgian Chwitscha Kvaratschelia gave Napoli the lead shortly after the break with a hand penalty (47th). After that, star striker Victor Osimhen made things clear with a brace (68′, 73′). The 24-year-old Nigerian now has 16 goals in 17 league appearances this season. In the last five league games since the only defeat of the season so far in early January against Inter (0-1), Osimhen has scored seven times, Napoli have won all of these games.
