Ex-Rapid sports director Bickel has doubts about the new Hofmann role

Former SCR sports director Fredy Bickel was a guest at the Allianz Stadium for the Sunday game between Rapid Wien and Altach.

He is skeptical about the new role of sports coordinator to Sky: “Steffen Hofmann was so important for SK Rapid Vienna. I just don’t know if he’s really done himself any good now. Maybe the difficulties aren’t quite over yet, I don’t know, maybe things will still rumble a little until you have the clear structures and clear lines.”

Bickel also thinks: “I think he’s more important for the club, whether it’s right for him. I hope for him that he doesn’t feel burned out or burned out.”

Regarding the Rapidler’s current situation, the Swiss said: “Of course it’s difficult. Some say it was wrong and some say it was wrong. It was the same for me. I understand everyone because Rapid is not an easy club.”

Will Hedl Rapid survive?

In the run-up to the game, the new sports coordinator spoke to Sky himself about the hot topics in Hütteldorf.

The contract negotiations with Niklas Hedl are still high on the agenda: “He is a player who has been with the club for a long time. We’ve always believed in him over the years. He walked the path with us and will hopefully continue to walk it with us. We will do everything we can to keep Niki with us in the years to come.”

The “football god” also commented on Rapid’s sporting orientation: “We want to go our own way. The way is very easy. With our players, who we train ourselves, and if we don’t have quality in a position, bringing it in from outside. The main thing will be that we make our players from the academy and the second team even better with the new training center and then narrow the gap to Salzburg.”
