Ex-Ghent player had the choice between Belgium and Morocco: “But my choice has already been made”

Ibrahim Salah spent half a season in the first team of KAA Gent. On the last day of the transfer window, however, he left for the French Rennes.

After barely half a season, Ibrahim Salah (21) left KAA Gent for Rennes. Salah scored three times in 21 games for Ghent and also provided one assist. At Rennes, he scored his first goal for the French team in the Europa League on Thursday.

“I feel good, the team is excellent, young, dynamic and ambitious and there is a very good state of mind. I will need time to adapt, like everyone else, but I’m not worried because I am someone who adapts quickly,” Salah adds DM Sport.

Salah wants to play for Morocco

Salah was born in Sint-Joost-ten-Noode, but has Moroccan parents. So, like many players, he was faced with a choice. “I owe a lot to Belgium because I was educated in this country and I was born there, but my choice has already been made and it is Morocco.”

“I follow my heart and want to play for Morocco to make my parents proud who were born there. I also want to make my family in Morocco and the Moroccan people happy and I would be proud to wear the shirt.”
