Emma Raducanu cannot participate in the WTA 250 tournament in Austin due to tonsillitis.

For Emma Raducanu, 2023 is still not going according to plan. The 2021 US Open winner had to cancel her participation in the WTA 250 event in Austin due to tonsillitis.
“I’m sorry to have to withdraw from the ATX Open,” said Raducanu, who was preparing for the inaugural edition of the tournament in Texas. The Briton is now hoping to return to the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells (March 8th to 19th), where she is right in the main draw thanks to a wildcard.
Raducanu would have played her first tournament since the Australian Open in Austin. The current world number 81 lost in Mebourne. in the second round against Cori Gauff after previously injuring his ankle in Auckland.
The field in Austin is led by Magda Linette from Poland, Shuai Zhang and Linz winner Anastasia Potapova are also at the start. American tennis fans can place their hopes in Danielle Collins and Sloane Stephens, among others.
