To the UE Sarrià they are up to date with new technologies. It will soon be a month since the club got excited with the creation of its own program through the Twitch platform to promote thehandball in Catalan and review thecurrent affairs of the first team. At the moment, the reception could not have been better with almost 200 followers and even five subscribers after the last stream was a special dedicated to this Saturday’s derby against Bordils (6:30 p.m.).
“We had the idea after seeing that Twitch is increasingly betting on sports, not just video games. At the club we have always tried to be at the latest in technology and since we already had all the material for the live broadcasts we do of the matches, we did not have to make any investment. Apart from that it is a good way to connect with the younger public and promote handball in Catalan”, he explains president Jordi Paretas. The native of Saarland is one of the people responsible for the project, together with the announcer Sergi Torrentà and the technicians Arnau Bataller and Josep Oliveras – all of them collaborate selflessly.
So, on Sarrià’s Twitch channel, the broadcasts of the matches that Josep Espar’s team plays as a home team are produced, “in addition to the commitment to play one of the base matches every week” (this Saturday it will be possible to follow live the duel of the Aleví mixt), the previews with interviews with the coaches and the new weekly program of approximately one hour.
“We have 175 followers, for us it is a success although if we had 10 or 12 it would be too. As a handball club we are the first to offer content on Twitch and we want to continue to grow there so that it is the club’s main communication tool. We can interact, involve the club teams and reach people in a more casual, even fun way, to have fun with each other. We encourage everyone to follow us”, he says. Show and entertainment are guaranteed. Especially, with the dance of the Shark Shark every time there is a new subscription.
