The MotoGP 2023 pre-season test series at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia, starts today, Friday (10/2/2023). On the first day of this test, the Ducati riders succeeded in dominating the top flight. Meanwhile, the Monster Energi Yamaha racer, Fabio Quartararo, appeared confident with a high top speed.

Quoted from page Crash, Ducati and Aprilia dominated Friday’s test session. The new Ducati Lenovo racer, Enea Bastianini, was the fastest, with a record time of 1 minute 58.732 seconds. Followed by the Pramac Ducati racer, Jorge Martin, in second place with a time difference of 0.005 seconds.

Meanwhile, Bastianini’s paddock partner, Francesco Bagnaia, was in third place with a time difference of 0.125 seconds. Then the Aprilia Racing duo Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Yamaha’s mainstay French racer, Quartararo, became the sixth fastest with a time difference of 0.690 seconds. Quartararo prepared three new YZR-M1 motorbikes for this test session. And the results look promising, at least in terms of top speed which is showing signs of improvement.

Quartararo managed to reach a maximum speed of 334.3 km/hour. This is a good sign, because the top speed that Quartararo last obtained at Sepang was 330.2 km/h during the Malaysia MotoGP 2022 qualifying session last October.

Meanwhile, in the pre-season test session, Quartararo’s YZR-M1 ride top speed only lost to the top speed of Mooney VR46 racer Marco Bezzecchi, who recorded 335.4 km/hour. Meanwhile, Quartararo’s partner, Franco Morbidelli, only achieved a top speed of 332.3 km/hour.
