Of the fights that took place in the quarterfinals, only the fight between Dimitrov and de Minor, which took place at the beginning of the day, turned out to be really exciting. The most dramatic events took place in the decisive third set, when the 24-year-old Australian earned a break advantage in the third game. In the sixth game, the much more experienced Dimitrov was superior in all four games after his opponent’s serve.
The events in the tiebreak, which de Minor started with three points in a row, turned out to be the most noteworthy. Dimitrov later broke back to tie at 3-3, but de Minor went on to take a 6-4 lead before missing two match points, including one on his own serve. The 31-year-old Dimitrov was able to escape the loss by winning four straight games to advance to the semifinals.
In it, Dimitrov will face Medvedev for the seventh time in his career, who lost only six out of 18 games against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliasim (ATP No. 8).
In the second semi-final pair, the Italian talent Sinners will examine Greekspor, to whom the organizers of the tournament previously awarded wildcard for participation in the main tournament. If the 21-year-old Sinner defeated the Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka (ATP 130), while the 26-year-old Greekspor stopped the best tournament of his compatriot Geis Brouwers (ATP 160).
