Rome, 5 February 2023 – With today, dedicated to the heavyweights of Greco-Roman wrestling, the curtain finally falls on the Ranking Series in Zagreb, where there are almost 600 wrestlers from all over the world.
Nikoloz Kakhelashvili and Danila Sotnikov, competing today for the Azzurri, however failed to give particular satisfaction. Unfortunately, both have been eliminated.
Nikoloz, in the 97 kg, won the first fight with the Serbian Lika Katic 14-4, but lost the second with the Hungarian Tamas Levai 4-1. Recalled, he was definitively eliminated by the Lithuanian Laurinaitis.
Danila, in the 130 kg, also won his first match against the Azerbaijani SHariati 4-0, but surrendered to the 2021 world champion, the Iranian Yousofiahmadchali 3-2. No chance of repechage.
Therefore, the Italian national team is back home after this beautiful event in which only Dalma Caneva managed to win a medal, silver in the 72 kg women’s wrestling.
