Crouser in New York dethroned Staňek from the top of the world charts

At the Millrose Games, 30-year-old Crouser clearly beat his American rival Joe Kovacs (21.34) and improved his own record from the 2019 meeting. He came within 24 centimeters of his two-year-old world record of 22.82. Last year in New York, he enjoyed a world record of 23.38, but after the meeting the organizers admitted an error in the measurement and the entire shot put competition was cancelled.

World record holder Christian Coleman won the 60 in the season’s best time of 6.47. The former world champion defended his victory from last year, in which he returned after an eighteen-month sentence for doping. In a battle of fast Americans, he beat the 200m world champion Noah Lyles (6.53), who, however, ran under protest due to a false start and his performance was not counted.
