Comazzi: «At least we tried with Cantù»

The Jb Monferrato coach: «We didn’t succeed to the end, the 20-point gap is a bit undeserved»

Eighth consecutive defeat for Jb Monferrato, a crisis that does not stop. That would be twelve, if last December 11 there hadn’t been – to interrupt the first black series – the victory against Urania Milano.

But coach Stefano Comazzi, promoted to head coach after Andrea Valentini’s sacking in recent weeks, doesn’t want to give up: «We have to stop counting defeats, otherwise we get depressed: I know the situation, I’ve been here since day one. And I know our calendar: after Cantù, we’ll face Vanoli Cremona and Treviglio, but we need a shot to move forward. We want to be ready to react, if our destiny is to play for the safety group, we will adapt».

Comazzi sees flashes of improvement: «I was much angrier after the defeat against Rieti, although he lost with a smaller gap. Against Cantù the team tried to fight back for at least 32 minutes. We didn’t succeed all the way, the 20-point gap is a bit undeserved». To try to contrast Cantù, Casale tried to limit their speed: «We tried not to let them run, we succeeded in part. In the final we took a few too many counterattacks and committed frustration fouls and the gap widened».

There is a very moderate optimism in the words of the Piedmontese coach: «Fighting to the end is our mission. On Tuesday we will have a new player, who I hope will give us a hand to reach the goal of salvation».
