Philippe Clement’s Monaco is running at full speed in the French league and has now also continued that good form in the Europa League. With a 2-3 win at Leverkusen, Monaco took an option on Thursday evening for the 1/8th finals.

Monaco was helped early on in Leverkusen by Lukas Hradecky, the home team’s goalkeeper. He stumbled over the ball under pressure from Embolo and clumsily worked the ball into his own goal.

Nevertheless, the Germans recovered well from this gift to Monaco. In the 1st quarter after the break, the home team turned the situation around completely. Diaby and Wirtz made it 2-1.

The final quarter was then again for the visitor. Krépin Diatta (ex-Club Brugge) signed for the handsome 2-2 in the far corner and the 2-3 was even better: deep into extra time, Disasi jabbed the ball into the corner.
