CB Albacete players shine in San Pedro del Pinatar

Club Badminton Albacete players faced two different competitions in recent days. On the one hand, Leda Calero and the brothers Miguel and Mario Serrano Quereda traveled to the Murcian town of San Pedro del Pinatar to play a scoring event for the absolute national ranking. The results can be described as very brilliant, since the men’s singles final was starred by the two players from Albacete.

This time the draw distributed them through the two different areas of the draw, which allowed them to face each other only in the final. That’s how it was and both made it to the final after defeating top-level players such as Adrián Gálvez (Badminton Infante), Ginés Vallés (Teulada) or Ángel Rodríguez (Las Torres). The final victory went to the eldest of the brothers, who thus begins the 2023 season exactly the same as 2022 ended, with a win in another scoring event.

Mario Serrano completed his great performance with another silver medal, in the doubles category, with his usual partner Nikita Nikitin (San Fernando Valencia). On this occasion they were defeated by the Valencian couple Ivars-Vallés. Leda Calero also reached a silver medal in the individual modality, very worked, with a tight 24-22 in the last set.

For her part, the young Lucía Barbero traveled to the Malaga town of Benalmádena to participate in the Andalusian Spanish Open U15. This competition, of an international nature, registered a high participation of foreign players as well as a good part of the best of the national territory.

Barbero and three members of the Albatros de Cuenca Club were the only Castilian-Lamancha representation at the event. Of the eight matches played by Lucía, she was victorious in only one, but it was a great experience that is expected to soon be reflected both in her game and in the results.
