Borussia Dortmund prevailed against a strong opponent from Bochum and thus remains undefeated in 2023.

Borussia are the last team to reach the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup. The 2-1 win in the derby at VfL Bochum on Wednesday paved the way to the last eight teams, which BVB missed out on last year. In front of 26,000 spectators in the sold-out Vonovia Ruhrstadion, Emre Can (45 + 1) with a curious goal from around 45 meters and Marco Reus (70) ensured the hard-fought victory of the third player in the Bundesliga in a duel with the fourth from last. Kevin Stöger (64th penalty) scored the equalizer for Bochum.
Cup defenders RB Leipzig, record winners Bayern Munich, 1. FC Union Berlin, VfB Stuttgart, SC Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt had previously progressed. The quarter-finals will be drawn on February 19.
