Basketball in Brindisi is not just a sport, but a real lifestyle. The link between this discipline and the inhabitants is intense, so much so that – sometimes – it can also involve those who were not born in the area, but come from outside.
It’s the story of Simone Giofrèsports director of Happy Casa Brindisi, who recently decided to pay homage to the whole city, giving himself a special gift.
The blue-and-white executive had a pair of white shoes painted by a professional in the sector: merinsinyourshoes. Sneakers have taken on a look that leaves no room for further interpretations.
And so, on them, the logo of the New Basket Brindisi and the Lba (Lega basketball serie A) are visible.
The representations of two of the most important monuments and places of historical and cultural interest in the city could not be missing: the Roman Columns, placed at the top of the Virgilian Staircase, and obviously the Monument to the Italian sailor.
On the back of the shoes, the writing “Brindisi stella del sud” can be read.

“This is not a sponsorship, but a personal initiative of mine – says Simone Giofrè – I sent the shoes to a trendy artist in Milan, and so I gave myself this very special gift”.

I worked for the basketball clubs of my place of origin, then in Varese and Rome. Arriving in Puglia was a bit like a sign of destiny.
