Borna Coric too strong for Arthur Rinderknech in Montpellier

Borna Coric did not leave much lying around on the Montpellier central on Thursday, during an eighth final which he mastered against Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech. On arrival, a success in two sets for the Croatian (6-3, 7-5), 26th in the world, who has been actively chasing his best level since last summer, after a 2021 season marred by a shoulder injury LAW.

Despite a more aggressive second set played forward, Rinderknech (68th) failed to get a single break point throughout the game. Imperial on his face-off (10 aces, 75% of first serves and 79% of points behind), Coric often played fair, leaving the passing in the feet or the backhand along the line when necessary. Master of the debates, the Croat notably dismissed the only “half-threat” at 3-4, 30 A on his serve, with a lot of composure, before pushing Rinderknech to two consecutive forehand faults which cost the Varois his face-off at 5-5.
