BBL: Record swatter in Würzburg: Hamburg Towers like a relegated! | Sports

The Towers at rock bottom.

At the embarrassing 56:90 (33:49) in Würzburg, Hamburg’s basketball players played like a relegated team for 30 minutes.

“In the end we played a quarter long,” said coach Benka Barloschky (35) after the worst smack of the season.

Even before that, the first bad news: driver Lukas Meisner (27) was absent ill. Without him there was nothing to see in front of 2589 fans in the “school gym hell” of AbstiegsKAMPF. In the first half, the towers had the intensity and agility of folding chairs.

Only the ten minutes after halftime were acceptable, in which they even managed to get up to five points (52:57). After that, the totally insecure troop flew totally apart – and didn’t even resist anymore!

Terrible: They slapped the last quarter at 4:31.

Worse: NOTHING has gotten better for months!

Again, the “Trauers” threw the ball to the opponent 23 times. Only 11 out of 20 free throws and only 5 out of 18 three-pointers fell. Top performers like Kendale McCullum (26), James Woodard (29) and Yoeli Childs (24) were total failures again. Only Anthony Polite (25/18 points) and Captain Seth Hinrichs (29/15 points) held back.

If new players or an experienced firefighter don’t come as a trainer as soon as possible, it’s down to the second division. Last season Ingo Freyer (51) saved Oldenburg in a similar situation. The Wedeler is currently available…

After the sixth BBL bankruptcy in a row, the next swatter threatens for the Towers in the EuroCup in London on Wednesday (8:30 p.m., Magenta Sport). Barloschky pleadingly: “Every game is do-or-die. Every game is the most important of the season. We just have to win a game.”
