In the fight against relegation, the Bayreuth basketball players want to set an impulse again with a change of coach. A former cup winner takes over in Franconia.
Basketball Bundesliga club medi Bayreuth continues the relegation battle with a new coach. As announced by Upper Franconia, Mladen Drijencic (57) will replace the previous coach Lars Masell (42).
After a year in Ludwigsburg, Masell returned to Bayreuth in 2022 and took over the post there. The hoped-for success did not materialize. Former Oldenburg coach Drijencic will start his work in Bayreuth with training on Thursday.
Drijencic brings plenty of Bundesliga experience from his time in Oldenburg. He was head coach there for seven years and won the cup with Lower Saxony. For the Bayreuth team, the Bundesliga continues on Sunday. Then the Franconians are hosts for ratiopharm Ulm.
