Basketball-Bundesliga MBC gains air in the relegation battle with 98:83 against Würzburg

The basketball players from Syntainics MBC got some air in the relegation battle. The Weißenfels team won their home game against the Würzburg Baskets on Sunday 98:83 (51:43) and now have a six-point lead over the relegation zone thanks to their eighth win of the season. Six players scored double figures for the hosts: Kris Clyburn (25), Tremmel Darden (16), Kostja Mushidi (15), Martin Breunig, John Bryant (14 each) and Charles Callison (10). Stanley Whittaker (22), Cameron Hunt (16) and Filip Stanic (10) scored best for Würzburg.

After the 11:11 (4th) in the first quarter, the hosts were able to pull away over 18:11 (6th) to 30:19 (10th). The team from Weißenfels extended this lead to 62:44 (23 rd ) shortly after the break. Nevertheless, it got exciting again because the home side allowed the opponent too many second chances. Under the boards, the Würzburg team (34:19 rebounds) had clear advantages and came threateningly close again at 69:64 (29th). But the Central Germans showed strong nerves and laid the foundation for success with their high hit rate from beyond the three-point line. 14 of 25 throws landed in the Würzburg basket.
