Auxerre wins in Lorient and leaves the red zone

Auxerre confirms its revival. The Icaunais, who had recently chained ten matches without a win in Ligue 1, and who remained on a convincing success at home against Lyon on February 17 (2-1), won again this Saturday, but outside this time, as part of the 25th day of L1. AJA indeed won (0-1) in Lorient, thanks to a direct free kick signed Rayan Raveloson (58th), who for the occasion scored his first goal in Ligue 1.

This free kick was the subject of a long video analysis, because the Malagasy defender, who slipped when striking, gave the impression of having touched the ball twice at the moment, which the VAR n could not determine with certainty. This goal therefore allows AJA to chain a second success in a row in Ligue 1, for only the second time this season, and above all to get out of the red zone, going from 18th to 16th place. But if Troyes manages to win the three points in Ajaccio, during a match which will kick off at 3 p.m. this Sunday, then Auxerre would again become relegated.

In the meantime, Christophe Pelissier’s players have rather deserved their success. Because if the statistics are clearly in favor of the Hakes, who benefited from a more favorable possession of the ball (60%), and who shot on goal more often (12 times, against 9 for their opponent), the AJA despite everything proved dangerous on many occasions, in particular through the intermediary of the stirring Siriki Dembélé, whose shot deflected by Bamo Meïté found the left post of Vito Mannone (9th), and whose opening for Gaëtan Perrin would have been materialize with a goal, if Montassar Talbi had not intervened to counter the shot of the latter (53rd). At the end of the match, the Merlus besieged the icaunais goalkeeper Andrei Radu, author of several decisive stops.
