At the 5th stage of the Baltic Cup in Sigulda, only Latvian alpine skiers win the parallel slalom – Winter sports – Sportacentrs.com

On Saturday, young people and representatives of the Master group took part in the 5th stage of the Baltic Cup in Sigulda in mountain skiing, taking part in two competitions. First they found out the fastest in the super giant, and then the best in the giant slalom. On Sunday, the 5th stage of the Baltic Cup ended with the parallel slalom of the youth and Master groups, where a qualifying race took place at the beginning, determining the eight fastest, which then determined the best in pairs, starting from the quarter-finals, according to the principle of the elimination race. In the elimination rounds, each participant drove first on one track, then on the other. If each of the participants of the respective duel managed to win once, then the one with a better time went on.

In the U16 group for boys in the final, Pēteris Pauls Prancāns beat the giant slalom winner Anders Bergstrom, winning the second prize and the first victory this weekend. Meanwhile, the Estonian has a full set of award-winning places. The third place was won by Miks Mazais, who first in the quarter-finals dealt with the Lithuanian who showed a slightly faster time in the qualification, but in the small finals he beat Nilas Neo Trapanas in a very similar fight. For the girls, the second victory and the third prize was won by Kristiana Hartman, who beat the giant slalom winner Emma Tammemegi from Estonia in the final. The duel for the third place was extremely similar, where Loretta Reiter prevailed over Esteri Janson by only 0.04 seconds in the sum of two races.

In the U14 group, although he had shown only the third time in the qualification, Kristians Indriksons proved his status by adding the second victory on Sunday to the second and first place on Saturday. Indriksson lost in the final and, like in the giant slalom, Leo Sauers earned the second place. In the small final, Ronijs Droš won after beating Estonia and won the first prize-winning place in the 5th stage of the Baltic Cup. For the girls in this group, Heidija Ciagune remained undefeated in all three starts. Just like in the super giant, Elsa Zelča won the second place, thus climbing to the podium in all disciplines. The third place was won by Justine Baumane, who was in the top three for the second time last weekend, who had a good chance to reach the final in the parallel slalom, but the mistake made in the second race of the semi-final prevented her from doing so.

In the U12 group, Patrick Ciagun dominated, as did his sister Heidi, getting her third victory. Maiks Bērziņš faced Ciagun in the final and took the second place, who beat Kārli Kokar, who showed the second time in the qualification, in the semi-final. In the small final, Kokars, the third place winner of the super giant, lost to Edvard Kapteinis-Veits, not getting the second prize, but Kapteinis-Veits finally got the well-deserved place after the fourth place. Nicole Greenberg became the third representative of the youth group who managed to win all three starts. Noa Aleksandra Trapāne competed until the final and won the first prize. In the small final, Martina Skudrule beat Elizabet Allen, also getting the first place. Laura Amerika, the runner-up in qualifying, had an unsuccessful quarterfinal, as the second-place winner in the giant slalom settled for the fifth place in the parallel slalom.

In the master group, Sanita Kubuliņa won the first place for the third time, beating her fiercest competitor in all three disciplines, Ieva Lagzdiņa, who, by the way, had shown the fastest time in the qualification. The distribution of the rest of the places resembled a giant slalom, in a similar duel for the third place, Jelena Brokānei overtook Ingrid Sīpola, but the candidate for the prized place, Rūta Paražinskiene from Lithuania, who experienced a fall in the second start in a row, remained fifth and did not qualify for the elimination rounds, which began with the women’s semi-final, where four alpine skiers entered .

In the men’s intense duel in the final, Pauls Stega won the second start in a row, while Andrejs Mihailovs, who showed the best time in the qualification, showed the best result of the weekend with the second place, as he was third in the giant slalom. In the small final for the third place, Toms Ielejs beat the Lithuanian Jurgis Januļioni, repeating the performance of the super giant, where Toms was also third.
