ADESP constitutes the National Commission for Inclusive Sports

MADRID, 14 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Spanish Sports Association (ADESP) announced this Tuesday that it has set up the National Commission for Inclusive Sports, an initiative within the framework of the new Sports Law and whose “first objective is to create strategies and policies that favor full inclusion throughout the Spanish sport and at an international, national and regional level”.

As indicated by ADESP in a statement, to achieve this objective, “a roadmap will be defined and developed to create the best inclusive scenario for athletes, federations and sports clubs.”

This National Commission is made up of the Spanish Federations of Cycling, Swimming, Winter Sports, Table Tennis, Badminton, Triathlon, Sports for the Deaf, Sports for People with Physical Disabilities, Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Sports for People with Cerebral Palsy and Acquired Brain Injury and Sports for the Blind.

In addition, it will have the representation of two Autonomous Communities, Extremadura and the Region of Murcia, through their General Directorates of Sport, the Sanitas Foundation and the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE), which together with ADESP will lead the working group .

“Full inclusion is a worldwide trend and from the Association we have always been sensitive. With this working group we have established a calendar to help all single-sports Federations achieve full inclusion and to manage the future of Federations that are currently aimed exclusively at athletes with other abilities”, warned José Hidalgo, president of ADESP and the Spanish Triathlon Federation.

ADESP also pointed out that “the engine of this initiative worldwide is the International Paralympic Committee, which has set 2026 as the limit for single-sport federations to integrate athletes with different abilities.”
