Young people with disabilities discover judo

Young people with Down syndrome train with the judo club.

Since November, in partnership with the Loiret Trisomie 21 association, the judo club has welcomed five young people with Down syndrome. Cédric Jeandenant, teacher, invites them to discover the discipline. “They have already acquired the falls, the rolls, the control and the immobilization on the ground. »

This project takes place in ten sessions, one per month. The training is progressive and adapted to the age groups. The cost of registration is borne by the club.

Judo allows for positive development. We plan to include them with the other children, ”says Yves Joly, the president. For Fabienne Ponte, president of the Trisomy 21 association, herself a judoka and mother of a child with Down’s syndrome, judo allows them to gain self-confidence.
