WTA Adelaide: Bencic and Teichmann master their 1st round – rts.ch

Belinda Bencic (WTA 13) did not fail. Like Jil Teichmann (35) a few hours earlier, the Olympic champion showed absolute mastery during her first round in Adelaide.

Bencic won 6-3 6-4 ahead of Garbine Muguruza (48). Imperial behind her serve – she did not concede a single break point – she twice snatched her opponent’s engagement. She thus signs a 3rd victory in 4 games against the Spaniard.

“I really served very welli, welcomes Bencic. The work done in the offseason with Dmitry Tursunov is starting to pay off.” Seeded No. 8, the St-Galloise will face the winner of the meeting between Jelena Ostapenko (18) and Anna Kalinskaya (64) on Wednesday.

Teichmann implacable in “money time”

Teichmann won 7-5 6-4 ahead of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (365). The Swiss no2 forced the decision with 2 breaks. In the person of the Russian, finalist at Roland-Garros in 2021, the left-hander faced an opponent who was returning to competition after 8 months off due to a knee injury.

In the next round, Teichmann will be opposed to Danielle Collins (WTA 14) against whom she remains on a defeat.
