Julian Nagelsmann is still firmly in the saddle at FC Bayern. A cup-off against Mainz could change that. Some top trainers would be available.
Munich – Three games, three draws: FC Bayern had a different start to the new year. Julian Nagelsmann does not have to worry about the backing of the bosses at the moment.
“We saw when we weren’t able to win four games last September: Julian Nagelsmann finds the right solutions,” said FCB President Herbert Hainer with conviction. However, this conviction could soon suffer serious dents: the cup game against FSV Mainz on Wednesday is extremely important for Nagelsmann.
FC Bayern: Nagelsmann under pressure before the DFB Cup
A third early cup exit in a row is considered the worst-case scenario in the club, which the coach shouldn’t actually allow himself. If it happens, Nagelsmann actually has to worry about his job first. Even if he has a contract until 2026 and can probably hope for a longer grace period than other trainers.

Thomas Tuchel
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wanted to bring Thomas Tuchel to Bayern Munich as Heynckes’ successor, but Uli Hoeneß prevented it. The name Tuchel always comes up when there is a coaching discussion at FC Bayern. The successes of the ex-Chelsea coach speak for themselves.
Zinedine Zidane
Zinedine Zidane has been unemployed since 2021. Previously, the French legend won everything there is to win with Real Madrid. The 50-year-old wants to take over a club again this summer. According to RMC Sport only four clubs come into question for him: PSG, Juventus Turin, Real Madrid – and FC Bayern.
In 2015, Zidane completed an internship with the Munich team and is said to have been impressed by the organization and professionalism.
Joachim Löw
The ex-national coach wants to return to club football, so why not FC Bayern? Jogi Löw would certainly be tempted by this task. However, it is quite unlikely that FC Bayern would seriously consider him.
Mauricio Pochettino
He raised Tottenham Hotspur to a new level in his five-year tenure. At Paris St. Germain he did not succeed. He didn’t manage to form the star ensemble into a unit. He has therefore been available again since this summer and is a possible option for FC Bayern if Nagelsmann is no longer trusted.
