Will ‘telephone incident’ cost Ronaldo his Saudi Arabia debut? | Foreign football

Cristiano Ronaldo knocked a phone out of the hands of a supporter in April 2022 after the lost league match against Everton, who filmed him.

The 37-year-old Portuguese, who was visibly annoyed, later apologized via social media. Months later, he was charged by the FA Disciplinary Committee.

The English Football Association FA eventually suspended Ronaldo for two games in November. He has not yet served that sentence.

According to the FIFA statutes, such a penalty must be taken over by an association of another country.

However, in a statement, the World Football Association says that in this case it is up to the Saudi federation to determine whether that actually happens.

Thursday could therefore very well be the day on which Cristiano Ronaldo makes his debut for Al-Nassr.
