Warriors grateful to Joe Biden

The defending NBA champions Golden State Warriors visited the White House for the first time since 2016 on Tuesday and took the opportunity to throw flowers to US President Joe Biden.

The Californian team nevertheless lifted the Larry O’Brien trophy in 2017 and 2018. However, when Stephen Curry refused to meet ex-President Donald Trump, the latter withdrew his invitation for the entire team.

Head coach Steve Kerr was so grateful to be back in the iconic building in the US capital.

“On behalf of the Warriors, I want to thank President Biden and Vice President [Kamala] Harris for their invitation and allowing us to celebrate the championship we won a year ago,” he said, according to FOX News.

Before taking a break for some shots with the president and vice-president, Kerr took part in a roundtable on gun violence. Recall that after the killing in Uvalde, Texas, the pilot of the Warriors had delivered an emotional plea to convince the authorities to correct the shooting concerning the possession of weapons.

“In the past hour, we’ve learned a lot about the changes this administration wants to make to create a safer environment in this country,” Kerr said. This is an issue that is very close to my heart.”

For his part, Curry praised Joe Biden’s efforts to repatriate WNBA athlete Brittney Griner to the United States. The Phoenix Mercury player was detained in Russia for 10 months because she had in her possession a vaporizer with liquid containing cannabis.

The Golden State Warriors became NBA champions last June by defeating the Boston Celtics in six games.
