Unusual, ATP > Gabriel Debru (hope of French tennis) about his idols: “I would say Federer, Gasquet … and Karatsev”

Qualified for his first Challenger quarter-final at the Oeiras tournament in Portugal, one of the greatest hopes of French tennis, Gabriel Debru (630e world at 17), was questioned at a press conference about his idols and models within the current circuit.

And if the Grenoble native quite naturally cited Richard Gasquet among French players and Roger Federer more generally even if the Swiss has just retired, Debru, before he was cut off, also mentioned the name of Russian Aslan Karatsev .

If Karatsev’s name is surprising, it must be recognized that his incredible career at the Australian Open 2021 (only beaten by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final) when almost no one knew him had particularly marked the spirits.
