CULIACÁN._ With the objective of integrating new elements to the largest judo team of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS)At the beginning of February, a camp is scheduled to be held in Culiacán, to which young people interested in being part of this group that will defend the colors of the UAS in the next National Universiade.
Elias Gomez Uretacoach of the senior judo team of the Autonomous University of Sinaloareported that it currently has 24 elements and that the plan is to draw 14 more competitors as a result of said camp.
“I would like to invite the entire university student community, the training is totally free, the classes are from 10 in the morning here in the Cardiovascular Gymnasium on the second floor, the requirement is to be a student of the UAS and have a little love for physical activity,” he said.
Gómez Ureta stated that after the inactivity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, young people began to report to training and in the first competitions that they attended this year, medals were achieved that are an encouragement to continue forward.
“After the recess process as a result of the pandemic, we are really in the process of integrating the national team, we had a first experience last year, it went quite well, we did not get a medal, we had the opportunity to evaluate the technical-tactical issues and in this year 2023 we hope to get some 3 medals out there in the National Universiade”, he added.
The coach of the senior judo team of the UAS He highlighted that among the boys that he brings at the moment and those that are going to join from the south of the state, there are some that are of the same weight and that before that he will have to select the best since he will only be able to take the official competitions two in each weight.
Gómez Ureta mentioned that among the students who are attending the training sessions, they stand out as prospects due to their latest results, Gabriel Torres of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences Mazatlán, Gabriela Quintero of the Faculty of Psychology Culiacán and robert rivera from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences of Culiacán, who obtained a silver medal in the past National University Judo Championship.
