Trevor Story: The Red Sox were preparing to play him at shortstop

The loss of Trevor Story, whose presence cannot be guaranteed this season due to Tommy John surgery, hurts the Red Sox. She forces the club to turn around quickly.

But OK. Ideas like Elvis Andrus, Jose Iglesias and Josh Harrison in the middle of the infieldit’s not exactly… optimal.

After all, right now you have to combine the departure of Xander Bogaerts with the loss of Trevor Story to realize that the Sox’s infield midfielder no longer exists.

The club was really considering bringing Story back to shortstop, but right now the plan is dead.

We understand better why some teams, who were afraid of Story’s elbow, preferred to pass their turn a year agowhen he was free as air.

And this, even if Kiké Hernandez does not consider that it was known that Story was injured to the point of having to go under the knife.

Short. All that to say that right now, the Sox have to find solutions… and with Miguel Rojas who has returned to Los Angeles, it won’t be easy.

Basically, it could go through a committee to replace Story and Bogaerts.

Of the lot? Kike Hernandez. The guy can play anywhere, but the beautiful depth that was once in the infield at Fenway Park is dead.

Bringing Kiké back into the infield is a possibility, but we must not overlook the fact that this would create a hole elsewhere in the center line, in center field.

And if there’s one player who can fix a lot of problems, it’s Jarren Duran.

Once seen as a great project, he’s starting to lose some feathers due to his inability to stand out in the Majors… but Alex Cora hasn’t given up on him.

Where we are, it would be good for him to get up and play some good baseball.

– Alex Cora

Cora gave such an answer when he was not asked about Duran. It demonstrates a bit the urgency of the situation in BeanTown.

And if he is good, Kiké can help out in the middle of the infield on a regular basis. That would just be perfect right now, wouldn’t it?

Of course, you will tell me that he never gave the Sox good reasons to trust him, but it’s not too late.

No need to tell you that his training camp will be important, right?
