The Saint-Dizier basketball continues in Cormontreuil (51)

The beginning of the year 2023 smiles at Saint-Dizier basketball. Saturday, January 14, the Bragards recorded a second success in a row on the floor of Cormontreuil (66-64) and occupy eighth place.

It is still without Simon André, Etienne Jacquin and Maxence Wéry, on the bench alongside Anthony Caron, that the Bragarde team approaches this trip to Cormontreuil.

The visitors made a good start and scored on fast play with Alban Cordero and Benjamin Schauss, with outside skill from Alban Cordero and Thibaut Caque but it was the Marnais, carried by their leader Matthieu Bourgeois, who however took the lead ( 16-13).

The narrow victory, with a beautiful basketball

The Bragards reacted well: six points from Yanis Becker, five from Benjamin Schauss and five from Jean Lemaître contributed to the rise of the SDB at the break (29-29). Back from the locker room, the Nord Haut-Marnais continued their momentum with the Becker-Schauss-Lemaître trio (48-51). Alexis Le Gall’s teammates, joined, finally snatch victory fourteen seconds from the end on a basket from Benjamin Schauss alone under the circle, the game’s top scorer with 21 points. Three seconds from the end, Cormontreuil has the equalizer, but the ball hits the circle and a Bragard player is present on the rebound (64-66).

Never two without three ?

“It’s been two matches where we’ve conceded less than 70 points. This victory is important before two capital matches including the next against Saint-André-les-Vergers at home. We can count on the return of Simon André and Etienne Jacquin,” commented Maxence Wéry. Will the saying “never two without three” come true?

Answer this Friday evening, around 10 p.m.
