The Playoffs – Damar Hamlin thanks colleagues, family and fans in video on social media » The Playoffs

This Saturday (28), Damar Hamlin shared an almost six-minute video on her social networks thanking her for the support she received throughout her recovery process. This is the first time the player has addressed the public since suffering a cardiac arrest on the field on January 2nd.

“I cannot express how much I appreciate all the love, support and everything that has come my way,” said the Buffalo Bills safety. “What happened on Monday Night Football I believe is a direct example of God using me as a way to share my passion and love straight from my heart to the wider world. I can reciprocate [esse apoio] for children and communities around the world, and this has always been my dream.”

Last Sunday, Hamlin made his first public appearance when he watched the game between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals in person. The player said that he thought it was important to be able to talk about the situation, but that he had to “process [o ocorrido] within me, mentally, physically and spiritually.”

The player especially thanked his teammates, his family and the entire Buffalo Bills organization, especially the doctors and coaches who provided the first care while he was still on the field, in addition to the health professionals who were involved in his hospitalization and recovery both in Cincinnati and Buffalo, naming many by name. Hamlin also offered a special thanks to the Cincinnati Bengals and the NFL for “setting aside their early loyalties to root for a boy’s life,” and to the fans who have sent him positive energy during this time.

The safety took the opportunity to thank those who donated to the crowdfunding campaign for the Chasing M’ Foundation, which raised more than BRL 8 million since the player’s hospitalization, far exceeding the initial goal of BRL 2,500.

“It’s always been really important to me to be able to lead by example,” explained Hamlin. Feeling the love and support from young people just makes me want to give back and go to these opportunities to be an example that kids can look at, feel, talk to and know that whatever their dreams are they can achieve.

The player highlighted that he continues to recover and that he is looking forward to the next steps of his journey.
