The Lions Club Sports Personality of the Year will be announced on January 22

The 56th presentation of the Jules-Coulombe Trophy for Sports Personality of the Year from the Lions Club will take place on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Nominated: Luc Thibault, Josée Blanchet and Pierre Blier.

The presentation of the lunch of the 2023 Volunteer Sports Personality of the Club Lions de Rimouski is announced for Sunday, January 22 during a brunch-breakfast which will take place from 10 a.m., at the premises of the Salon de quilles Vézina, 54, Montée Industrial-and-Commercial in Rimouski.

This tradition, which has existed since 1965, is an initiative of the Lions Club in collaboration with the media. As usual, three people were nominated by the sports journalists-columnists:

Josée Blanchet — President of the Desjardins Provincial Minor Hockey Tournament. Ms. Blanchet’s involvement goes beyond the organization of the tournament in December since she is also involved in the Provincial Tournament in February for the competition teams and she is also a member of the board of directors of the Association de minor hockey in Rimouski.

Pierre Blier — member of the Défi Vélo Plein Air organizing committee. Mr. Blier is now a seasoned rider in the organization of cycling events for the benefit of several organizations, including the Eastern Quebec Cancer Association and the Maison Marie-Élisabeth in Rimouski. The Défi Vélo Plein Air will be in its 25th edition next July between Montmagny and Rimouski and Pierre Blier has greatly contributed to this great success over the years, as a cyclist, volunteer, organizer, honorary president.

Luc Thibault — president of the Club Les Archers de Rimouski. A club with a long and beautiful history… already more than 40 years old. The Archers practice archery in their premises in the basement of the Center de formation Rimouski-Neigette on Boulevard Arthur Buies in Rimouski. After several years of work, a new outdoor archery range was inaugurated last summer near the Adhémar-Saint-Laurent Community Center and the airport in Rimouski-Est, national level facilities for all enthusiasts and hunters where it is possible to shoot 70 meters either on a concentric target or animal shots.

The last presentation of the Jules-Coulombe Trophy took place at the Hôtel des Gouverneurs on Sunday, March 8, 2020. The commitment of Marc Boudreau hockey-figure skating, Geneviève Sirois short track speed skating and Daniel Guay cross-country ski club Mouski Nordique from Rimouski was highlighted and Marc Boudreau was finally declared the winner.

Tickets cost $20 and are on sale from members of the Rimouski Lions Club.
