Erik ten Hag is pleased that Manchester United have options at full-back. Tyrell Malacia and Aaron Wan-Bissaka can make up for the absence of Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot in this position.
Manchester United won 3-0 over Nottingham Forest in the first leg of the 2022/2023 English League Cup semifinals at City Groud, West Bridgford, Thursday (26/1/2023). The three goals for the Red Devils were scored by Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst and Bruno Fernandes.
In this match, MU manager, Erik ten Hag, played Tyrell Malacia and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the wing-backs. Ten Hag has a pretty good option in this position.
Malacia can alternate with Luke Shaw at left back. Meanwhile, Bissaka previously served as a substitute for Diogo Dalot. Dalot is currently sidelined due to injury.
Ten Hag is satisfied with MU’s squad depth, especially at the back. He considered this to be very much needed because the Red Devils are facing a busy schedule this season.
“I think Aaron and Ty, they are playing amazing at the moment. On Wednesday they were absolutely brilliant. The back four were brilliant on Wednesday. We are happy with the back four, we have good squad depth. That’s what we are need when you have to have 10 games in 30 days and hopefully that continues,” Ten Hag said as quoted from MU’s website.
MU will face Reading in the next match in the FA Cup, Sunday (29/1/2023). Ten Hag will most likely still play Malacia and Bissaka in this match. The reason is, Dalot will still be absent, while Shaw’s condition is doubtful.
“Dalot is definitely out, I think Shaw too [adalah] question mark, so we have to see after today’s training whether he can play or not,” said Ten Hag.
