Social networks and broadcasting: the impact of PSG’s visit to Qatar

Paris Saint-Germain announced that more than 5 million unique viewers watched the club’s clash against Riyadh, which was streamed live on PSG.TV, Facebook, One Football, Douyin (China), Twitch and YouTube.

In all, there were 4 million viewers on YouTube and 800,000 on Chinese Douyin.

“This was the first time that Paris Saint-Germain had broadcast this type of gala match live on their networks for fans around the world. The enthusiasm with which it was received encouraged us to repeat this initiative and offer even more content with the first team”, explained Anthony Baca, Digital Director of Paris Saint-Germain.

Club partner BeIN Sports also helped increase coverage of the gala by broadcasting it in 41 countries.

Impact also on new followers

In addition to the broadcast, during this tour in Qatar, the club added 1.8 million new followers on their social networks. In the period, there were 482 million impressions on published content.

Now, in addition to being the most popular sports organization on TikTok (37.7 million), PSG is the second most followed on Twitch (489,000 followers) and the first football club to have more than 4 million fans on Douyin.
