Married in high school with the mother of his oldest son, this former Knicks bitterly regrets this union, since it cost him millions of dollars. He came across a creative woman to recoup millions.
Not all NBA players are lucky enough to meet the woman of their life in their youth like LeBron James et Stephen Curry, who founded wonderful families with Savannah and Ayesha, whom they met during adolescence. Money hasn’t changed anything between them, success, fame and recognition have never had an effect on their feelings, they are passionate as on the first day.
Unfortunately, these great stories are often exceptions, and some big names have had to pay for it. This is particularly the case of Eddy Curry, a pivot who passed through Chicago and New York in the early 2000s′. He married and had a child with his wife out of high school, a decision that cost him particularly dearly 18 years later.
Eddy Curry’s ordeal with his ex-wife
In a poignant interview with the YouTube channel “Vlad TV”, the interior spoke at length about the different methods used by his ex to take all his money. He ended up on the chopping block partly because of this affair, and his testimony should inspire all the new generation which is currently arriving in the league:
I got married in high school, during my senior year. And she got pregnant with my oldest son. My parents didn’t even know that. I tried to divorce her a few weeks later, but she still managed to hang on. It’s the worst decision of my life. I hadn’t signed a prenup to keep my property, and a few months later I signed for $14 million in Chicago. She did all the dirt imaginable. It’s not all his fault, there were two of us in this story. Then we were best friends before that, I didn’t think she would go this far.
My agent warned me that in the worst case I could pay millions. I didn’t want to believe it… I was already paying him $16,000 a month in child support. What I didn’t know was that every time I signed a contract, it became our couple’s property. Whether it was with Nike, the brands of trading cards… So to accumulate as much as possible, she dragged out the divorce with lunar excuses. I had to buy her a house, a car, even though we had never lived together.
For years my son and I have been asking him to let him come live with me. I was ready to continue paying support. She always refused. And just before he turned 18, she kicked him out. A month later I received a letter for non-payment of the pension. I did not pay with the system provided by the state, I sent everything to his account. I must have sent over a million dollars. She told her lawyers that this money was a gift, and that I still owed her a million in pension. She stole my son, and millions of dollars.
Eddy Curry immediately realized that getting married in high school was a mistake, and his ex-wife took full advantage of it. She received exceptional alimony to raise their son, she was entitled to a house and a car, and she tried to recover an additional million dollars, by playing with the local law…
